Is Nurse-Midwifery care for you?

YES, IF . . . You are looking for an option in childbirth that is natural, safe and healthy. When you choose a nurse-midwife you receive individualized care and attention. Your nurse-midwife takes time to respond to your concerns and questions. She addresses emotional as well as physical changes you may be having. She becomes your guide through pregnancy, monitoring your progress carefully searching for any potential problems. If necessary, she can discuss concerns with our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, sonographers and childbirth educators at any time.

During labor, the nurse-midwife joins you soon after you arrive at the hospital, giving all the support and encouragement you need to follow your birth plan. Decisions are based on what you want, including use of pain medication and delivery position. By listening to you, your nurse-midwife helps make the birth of your baby a joyful, memorable experience.

If you are interested in using the nurse-midwifery service or just want more information, please make your first (or next) obstetric visit with either of our nurse-midwives, Elizabeth (Beth) Goodiel, C.N.M. or Karen Foster-Anderson, C.N.M.

Due to our small staff, a nurse-midwife may not be available on some evenings and some weekends. Please discuss our schedule when you make an appointment with the nurse-midwife.
